A Ransom for Many

Don't you just love how the memory verse for this week is woven throughout this chapter!  In Mark 10:26-27:  "The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, "Who then can be saved?"  Jesus looked at them and said "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God."

There's nothing we can do to earn our place in heaven.  And think about it this way...there's nothing we can do to un-earn our place in heaven either!  We're all human, we make mistakes...not that we have a "get out of hell free" card to play, but we do have the throne of grace that we can approach boldly and seek forgiveness and repent.  It's so easy to get caught up in activities...the things we DO, and it's hard for some not to realize that what we do is not the way.  What we believe, now that is the way!

"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve,
and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Mark 10:45

John 3:16

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life"John 3:16

Here's our memory verse for the week.  :)  The Gospel rolled into one verse...because He SO loves us.

For God...the greatest Lover
so loved...the greatest degree
the world...the greatest company
that He gave...the greatest act
His only begotten Son...the greatest gift
that whoever...greatest opportunity
believes...the greatest simplicity
in Him...the greatest attraction
should not perish...the greatest promise
but...the greatest difference
have...the greatest certainty
everlasting life...the greatest possession

Beginnings

How's everyone doing this week?  Liking the new reading plan as much as I am?

My reflection time this weekend has been varied and scattered to say the least, but it's nice to have the time designated for this...at first I thought it might just be a couple "days off", but I found myself really doing it!   I focused a lot on our memory verse for the week too:

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth".
Genesis 1:1

Maybe it was because of the New Year, or possibly the start of our new reading plan, or even the beginning of my new eating/exercise plan...but I'm still in that starry eyed state of excited anticipation of things to come.  It's keeping my eyes open to the life I have...little, normally hurried through, moments made me slow down and focus on my appreciation for all I've been blessed with.

One of those things I've been blessed with is being able to serve at KidStuf.  We sang a song today, which many of you may have heard before.  The lyrics are "Giver of every breath I breathe, author of all eternity, giver of every perfect thing - to You be the glory.  Maker of heaven and of earth, no one can comprehend Your worth, King over all the universe, to You be the glory!"

I was blown away by how the words that were speaking to me personally this week were also used through our worship team to speak to all the families who came to our two shows this morning.

Like I said, it's the little things.  But sometimes we don't see how big the "little" things can be, do we?
