Not sure if this last verse stood out at all to anyone else, but I have a couple reasons why it did to me.
- First, "they were astonished beyond measure".
- Second, "He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak".
But then I think about the second part. And when I combine them both I hear the song Amazing Grace.
Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
And, in this case, it becomes about me. I am astonished beyond measure as I think about who I was when I finally realized what Jesus did for me, not because of what I have done, but regardless of it. Before I knew the truth about the love of God, I was deaf to His Word. I was unable to speak to others about faith in Jesus, because I didn't know Him (I only knew about Him). And He has brought me to a point in my life where I am blessed to write about Him on this blog, speak about His love in Bible study, and sing His praises in our children's ministry at church. It really is so amazing!
Good Post!
